Doretti Owners Register   Email: ken@doretti.co.uk

Last year during the 70th anniversary celebrations I had the pleasure of meeting long-time American owner of Chassis No.1034, Vincent Vierck and his wife Becky. The experience of being surrounded by a lots of Doretti sports cars in the UK seems to have inspired the couple to take a detour on their way to Arizona from Washington, with their camper. In late January early February this year, they took the opportunity to visit a few Swallow Doretti sports car owners in California.

Chassis No.1032

The Vierck's first stop was in Sonoma Wine country to visit Thomas and Pam Jordan and Chassis No.1032. Here they had excellent visit, learned a lot of great history about their car and that Pam's dad purchased it in 1955. It is the yellow car pictured with Dorothy Deen, Tom Householder, Bill Smith and Pam's dad, that has been circulating around. Great folks and very welcoming.

Stop number two was in the San Diego area to visit with Peter Greatbatch and Brenda and No.1003. They were most welcoming and accommodated our 35 foot, fifth wheel on their beautiful property for two nights. Seeing Pete's very early car and taking note of the differences was big on Vincent's list.

Chassis No.1045

Together with Pete and Brenda, the Vierck's headed north for a couple hours to visit Steve Kirby and his gorgeous work in progress on Chassis No.1045. Seeing the car in its state of restoration and learning of its history was exciting. Steve also has some other wonderful cars, Jaguar XK 150 and a 1967 Austin Healey 3000 among others. It was great meeting Steve.

Chassis No.1026

The last stop on the California detour was a meeting with Ted Watson to see his progress with No.1026. This red Doretti is a very solid and complete car that is very close to completion. Ted's personal history and his knowledge of old Triumphs and many other British cars was fascinating. A wonderful guy and a pleasure to finally meet him. Overall it was very enjoyable trip, great people with a love of these old cars and passion to keep them alive. Very inspiring.

Over the years a pool of 'unidentified' vehicles has accumulated. A Doretti is defined as 'unidentified' when its chassis number is not known. For example, there are often photographs where the registration number is clearly visible but no other information is available. Or someone will report a car they used to own and just recall part of the registration number or when it was sold. When this happens, the bits of information are kept on UID numbered index cards that can be sorted and matched. At the present time details are wanted about the location/disposition or the past/present owners of the following cars with British registrations; KSJ 153, TKA 312, DHU 486, PXW 475, LNV 389 and UTR 5. Any information would be most appreciated.
